Nphos: Full-Service Solution for Global MMO Development

Nphos is a full-service massively multi-player game-platform. Nphos infrastructure and support services take the pain out of massively multiplayer game development and make international online markets affordably accessible to big and small developers alike.

The Nphos Platform Architecture

The Nphos Platform combines scalable data handling with cutting edge game server technologies to provide a system that is simple to use, fault-tolerant and highly scalable. All systems are fronted by simple web UI interfaces and game coding is done with POJO Java objects in the RedDwarf execution environment. Both internal services such as statistics tracking, as well as external services such as billing and customer management are available to the developer through the RedDwarf service APIs.

The RedDwarf Game Server

The core of the Nphos Platform is the RedDwarf game server. The game server provides a reliable, scalable, persistant and fault tolerant environment for the execution of game logic. Developers write simple, mono-threaded event driven code and the system handles the automatic distribution of its execution.

There are many ways to think of the RedDwarf server system, but one way to look at it is an application server that is designed specifically for near real-time simulation content and that has a simple game-programmer friendly API.

The in-house RedDwarf engine can scale horizontally to thousands of servers while running the exact same game server application code that single-node does with the added flexibility of dynamically scaling and auto fail-over. Game developers can use the community version to develop in their offices, and then bring their completed game to Nphos where we make it scale.

Nphos powers games such as Where is Carmen San Diego, The Mosh Pit, Zoo Kingdom, Club Galaktik and The Forbidden Hill.
